Jewelry Care

As a standard we recommend and offer a complimentary jewelry cleaning and inspection. You are welcome to come in once or twice a year to have your jewelry checked for loose prongs, worn mountings and general wear-and-tear as well as for professionally deep cleaning.

Between these visits use these basic simple tips for the care and maintaining of your jewelry:

  • Store your jewelry in a clean and dry place,
  • Keep your jewelry in a fabric-lined jewelry case, separate from each other, or in their original box or pouch to avoid scratches or cracks. Remember, even a diamond can be scratched or cracked by other diamonds.
  • Avoid applying soap, perfume, lotion or cream directly on your jewelry. Remnants of these products will accumulate on your jewelry surface and in the prongs, causing the setting to get loose and make your ring, bracelet or necklace look dull.
  • Avoid chlorine or salt water that can damage and discolor metals like gold and platinum and can slowly erode the finish and polish of your gemstones.
  • Sterling silver jewelry needs even more attention and care. With time, any silver jewelry that is exposed to air will tarnish. Silver tarnishes faster in high humidity, air pollution and in contact with materials like cosmetics, hairspray, perfume, deodorant, lotion, bleach, etc. To polish your silver jewelry use a silver polish cloth ONLY. DO NOT ever use silver cleaner.
